Cold Night Shelter to Reopen

The Tarpon Cold Night Shelter will open this year at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church on Tarpon Road just west of U.S. 19. The shelter will provide a place to sleep on nights colder than 40 degrees, as well as, a light late dinner and breakfast. In order to fit in with St. Timothy’s schedule the shelter will not be available until 9:00 p.m.on cold nights and will need to be cleaned by 8:00 a.m. The final logistics of storage and self contained portable showers are near completion. We are in the process of forming shift teams. If you have not served before and would like to help in this compassionate mission to the homeless, call Marty Gavlak, 736-0998.

We will be setting up the following shift teams:
8-11 p.m. room prep mattress distribution
8:30-10 p.m. evening meal
11 p.m. to 5 a.m. night vigil
5-8 a.m. mattress collection and stowage and cleanup
5-7 a.m. breakfast

Our Lord has said to us that what we have done for the least of His people, we have done to Him also.

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true -- even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. -- 1 John 5:20
