Every year, Operation Christmas Child delivers millions of shoebox gifts to children around the world. Shining the light of the the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children affected by war, poverty, disease and natural disaster, shoebox gifts are fueled by the power of prayer, bringing Good News and Great Joy to the ends of the earth! People are asked to fill a shoe box with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, candy, etc. that will be sent to needy children in more than 150 countries. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered over 123Million shoe boxes to needy children all over the world.

In 2017, PHUMC collected 4,485 shoe boxes and shared our love of Jesus with that many children!

PHUMC loves shoeboxes and we are thrilled to say all aspects of PHUMC participated this year. The Robin's Nest, Westlake Christian School, small groups, Stars and Comets, various girl scout troops, Shining Lights, individuals, families, and we can't forget the 1500 shoeboxes we packed at our church-wide build. A big thank you to Sonny's for participatin

In October, our adults special needs ministry, Shining Lights, had their own shoe box building party filling an all time record for them of 200 shoe boxes.

In October and early November, the church holds shoe box building parties with small groups, youth, children, Sunday school classes and collects shoe boxes filled by members of our congregation. During this month, we are set up in our multi-purpose room to distribute, collect filled shoe boxes and monetary donations. This area is the hub of activity and excitement!

We are off to a great start, but we aren't done yet!

PACKING PARTY!!  Each year the church does a church-wide packing party. The number of shoeboxes that are built grows each year. Mark your calendar for Friday, November 9! More details to follow. But, you don't have to wait to pack your shoebox. We accept shoeboxes all year!!

Do you know what happens to the shoeboxes once we pack them at PHUMC?

PHUMC takes our packed shoeboxes to a collection center with a Samaritans Purse 18-wheeler. From there our shoeboxes are taken to the Atlanta distribution center (one of over 8 distribution centers nationwide) and the shoeboxes get sent to their destination somewhere in the world from there.

Each year, Ron and Mary K Evers travels to Boone, NC and volunteers at the Boone Operation Christmas Child distribution center. This year more than 11 million shoeboxes will bless children around the world. To find out more about more, please click Operation Christmas Child . You too can learn about volunteering at a distribution center near you.
