We Believe…

• In the One True God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• Jesus was fully human and fully divine. His life, suffering, death, and resurrection, demonstrate God’s redeeming love.
• The Holy Spirit is God’s active presence in our lives. When we sense God’s leading, conviction, comfort, and calling, that is the work of the Holy Spirit.
• Human beings were created in the image of God. That image was distorted by sin, which separates us from God.
• Salvation and restoration of that relationship comes through Jesus Christ. He died on the cross and was resurrected, claiming victory over sin and death.
• The Bible is God’s Word. It is authored by humans and inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible contains all that is necessary and sufficient for salvation and is the primary source and basis of our beliefs.
• The church is the Body of Christ and is an extension of his ministry in the world.
• The church is open to all who are seeking to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and understand the diversity within the body. PHUMC is predominately a traditional church. We maintain a traditional view of marriage between one man and one woman.
